Still not seeing the results you want from Social Media? Have you been diligently following your upline’s instructions, but you still failed to get any new prospects?
After spreading all the good things about your product, your family and friends continue to ignore you – worse, some of them even decided to block you.
Yes, we have been there and done that. Unfortunately, too many upline’s don’t know the best ways to market online, and teach ineffective methods.
Surely, there is something wrong with what you are doing. But you were probably thinking — what could possibly go wrong when you have followed every instruction and advice from your upline? Don’t worry – your upline might have still been caught up with the old fashioned way of networking.
Unfortunately for both of you, Social Media networking plays by different rules. Here are 3 of the worst Social Media tactics that you and your upline likely have been doing, and it may be a good idea to stop doing them immediately!
Copying and using scripts is an old-time strategy for people who have to make prospecting calls. This could work on the phone, but when you do it online – it is a different story. Your audience knows if you are merely copying and pasting spiels or scripts for your business.
They might have seen the same post on a different platform, or they know you well enough to know that it does not sound like you. Yes, people can sense the lack of authenticity in your posts, and it totally turns them off if you are one of those people who do it just to sell stuff.
Aside from that, copied scripts sound impersonal and half-baked. It will only annoy the recipient – especially if it comes with copious amounts of emojis!
If you want to network effectively, you must know how to communicate effectively – and you sure can’t do that by just merely copying and pasting scripts from your upline.
This is essentially part of #1. Insincere and generic introductions are inherently part of a copy and pasted script. It sounds like “hey girl,” or “how are you, buddy? It’s been so long.” Some of these do try to make it more personal for the recipient but it still fails to get across, because there is a good chance that your prospect has already read the same message before.
To network effectively, you must be a good conversation starter. And you cannot achieve that if you are going to use generic or copied introductions. There are tons of other networkers and marketers out there. What makes you think that you can stand out from the rest if you are just going to use a generic intro?
This is probably the most common (and most annoying) of them all. You might have already seen this yourself on a lot of Facebook posts and group pages. They will go off by saying that they are asking for “permission to post” and then go ahead with their script (as if the administrator of the page already gave a go signal). It’s a huge turnoff, right? And it wastes the time of audiences who are genuinely looking for value from a Facebook page’s content.
So what should you do?
Here’s some advice. Stop following your upline’s out of touch advice and strategies!
If you really want to be an effective networker, you must do something different from everyone else.
Don’t come off as desperate and amateur by posting all those cheesy copied and pasted stuff on your Social Media platforms. Learn how to lead with value!
Start by telling authentic stories about yourself – your own struggles, and your own aspirations that your friends can resonate with. Engage at a more personal level. Take your time building and strengthening relationships.
Show prospects that you, your company and its products can add value to their lives – and that you are a cut above the rest. Show them that it is not about just selling, but it is also about doing business for a purpose.
