Almost every digital marketer will tell you to establish a blog site for your brand or business. Non-entrepreneurs even own and maintain a blog. Influencers, writers, digital artists, and many other people maintain a personal blog for creating and sharing unique content. But what possible beneficial use would a blog have for entrepreneurs and marketing affiliates?
Most entrepreneurs and online business owners prefer to market or sell their stuff on Social Media where “everyone” spends several hours each day browsing and looking at stuff in there. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and even YouTube can be linked together to increase exposure and sales. In just a matter of hours, your stuff gets engagement and exposure – even without much effort.
These platforms are free and easy to use. They can be used to publish just any type of content – whether that could be textual, photographic or in video form. And with that being said, what does blogging have to offer for marketers and affiliates that Social Media can’t? What value can it add to your business? Here are 2 very crucial reasons:
Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – and even YouTube, are all free to use. You can create a free account anytime and post any content you like. But the reality is, you don’t really own these spaces. Your post and ads are still subject to the platform’s rules, regulations, and ever-changing algorithms. Whenever Facebook rolls out a new content standard, your exposure can be affected. Basically, you have to endlessly adjust to the platform’s rules if you want to stay visible in the main feed.
A blog, however, is not subject to such restrictions. Whatever content you post is not subject to any rules and regulations. You can even create content according to your own format and preference. And since it is your very own page, you can customize every aspect of it to reflect your affiliated brand.
People may browse their Social Media feed every day, but let’s face it – how many people actually make a purchase from there? Social Media is for socializing and engaging, it is not exactly where people buy stuff or make a purchase.
But the thing is, a blog can be that channel where your target market can make a purchase – or the first step towards making a purchase at the very least. In a blog, you can add a “buy now” or “sign up” button which can lead the visitor to a page where he/she can make a purchase and complete the buying process.
As an affiliate marketer, your main job really is to lead customers to click and make a purchase – and a blog can be a more effective agent of that compared to Social Media pages. Aside from the informative content that your blog can present, making the buying process safer and easier for your target customers.
