If you have been in network marketing for a while, you have already come across many types of people – most of them are your recruits who are very adamant when it comes to earning money QUICKLY. These are recruits who ask “What do I need to do to earn money right away?” or “What should I do to earn a 6-figure income quickly?”
It cannot be denied that many people who join networking is out to make good money. However, with the wrong mindset and expectations, these recruits are guaranteed to fail or quit the team like the majority do. That’s why as a team leader, your job is to explain and show them what the right mindset really is.
Sure, your new recruits would ask about the step-by-step process on how to earn big income, and you might have a good presentation about that process. However, part of your job is to also make them understand that there is no one-way sure ticket to fortune. In fact, you have to tell them that a good compensation plan does not in anyway guarantee a 6-figure income.
If you fail to make your recruits understand what they are really getting into, then there is a high chance that they will quit the team within a year or less. So before they even think about quitting, you have to make them understand the following things:
The reality is, most of your recruits were probably employees before they decided to try out and join network marketing. So it is really expected of them to ask about what they should do in order to earn their desired income.
That’s where you should stop them and explain to them that being an entrepreneur is different from being an employee. Employees are paid to show up for work and do what the bosses tell them. No matter how poor or mediocre the output will be, employees will surely get their paycheck each month.
Entrepreneurs, on the other hand, play by different rules. And by joining your networking team, they have transitioned themselves from being employees to actually entrepreneurs! So how are entrepreneurs paid?
Unlike employees who are paid to work/do stuff as they are told, entrepreneurs are paid to get results! What are these results? It’s sales, conversions, or even recruiting new prospects. The result would vary – depending on the goals of your network and team.
But the thing is, it usually takes some time before any results start to kick in. And you cannot get results just by sitting and waiting around, you have to do something to attract results. This leads us to…
Sales, conversions, and new recruits just won’t come to you if you are not doing anything about it. The results you get are derived from the value and hard work you give out to the team. Selling and promoting your network requires marketing and advertising skills. Most of all, you need to sharpen your social skills, because such skills will be of great use when it comes to meeting and dealing with different kinds of people.
If you have great social skills and experience in dealing with different kinds of people, then those previously-acquired skills will be useful when you transition into network marketing. However, you also have to acquire new skills to stay on top of your game.
For example, you have to acquaint yourself with new digital marketing strategies to increase your visibility and prospects online. Your acquired social skills are still useful, but if you don’t go where others go, how are you going to meet new prospects?
If you are the team leader, your job is to guide your members on the right path. Know their strengths and weaknesses, so you can teach them which skills should be improved or studied to get the results that they desire for themselves (and for the network!)
Any profession requires hard work! Whether you are an employee or entrepreneur, every type of career path requires work and lots of time to master skills and processes. Employees still go on training and are even required to attend seminars from time to time.
Entrepreneurs are also required to learn and improve via self-study, practice, training, or by taking up new classes! Learning these new skills would take time. But the moment you start implementing the new things you have learned, performance and results can be seen or improved!
