When you are in the network marketing business, it is crucial for you to meet new people – lots of new people on a daily basis (as much as possible). Beginners usually enter the business with a list on hand.
Some just start with 25 people and successfully get in 18, while some can start with a list of 50 or more and can barely get in 8 from the list! So ultimately, it’s not about how long your list is – it is on how you interact with the people on your list before they even think of joining the business.
It goes without saying that you have to be pretty likable to be successful at network marketing. People (and strangers) should feel comfortable talking and associating with you. For some people, being likable is a natural skill or demeanor, but not all of us are gifted with such.
If you are one of the latter, don’t worry. There’s still hope here – but it requires lots of hard lessons and practice. Here are a few takeaways for you on how to improve on this aspect:
If you haven’t been much of a people pleaser before you join a networking business, then you will really have a hard time inviting people from your immediate social circle. If you did not have their trust before, then the more they won’t trust you when it comes to official business.
Dealing with people pleasantly is a skill that can be cultivated throughout the years. If you need to improve in this aspect, then you have to give yourself time. Learn more about networking and practice associating with different kinds of people before working on a new list.
It is hard to convince your old social circle if they already had a poor impression of you from the past. But the good news is, you can do better and leave a good impression on new sets of people! You can spend your time and energy on new people who are lucky enough to meet the new and more confident you.
Remember that a huge part of your income will be from the new people you have just invited. So don’t waste time on unconvinced people from your past, your energy and skills should be focused on meeting new people day after day!
Amateurs will say that they don’t know a lot of people so networking is not for them. Professionals like you, however, recognize that meeting people and dealing with them is a skill to be sharpened and cultivated. With practice, you can get better and earn more from it!
