In network marketing, prospecting is the first step in the whole process, and whether you like it or not, this is the part that will take up much of your time and effort. The reason? It is because you have to scour the crowd for the interesting ones out of the disinterested ones – and the disinterested ones usually make up the majority.
It’s all too familiar. The moment you tell people about your business and ask them to be part of those plans, you will hear a resounding NO. Worse, other people can’t say “no” straight to your face, so they make up excuses that will leave you hanging out of hope.
Well, it’s time to change that! Time to stop chasing people using old networking techniques – it’s high time to learn all about the “Reverse Invited Method”. This strategy is all about making prospects come to you, instead of you asking them to join your business. Instead of chasing prospects, what happens here is that they come to you on a voluntary basis.
How can that be possible? It’s easy, really. Just spark people’s curiosity! You need to make yourself interesting, but not too “out there” either. You have to withhold most of the details of your business to yourself – until prospects come asking you personally about it. Let’s start with the basics of the Reverse Invite Method.
Let’s face it, almost everyone is already on Facebook. Even your grandma’s cat could be on Facebook too. With all the clout you get on Facebook, it is a no brainer why it is a popular platform for networkers and businesses.
The good thing about using Facebook is that you can promote your posts by paid ads/clicks, or just grow your page organically if you are on a tight budget. Growing your page organically may take some time, but it could still work as long as you post engaging content frequently.
Going on Facebook Live has its perks. For one, it is a better format to engage with your prospects and customers in real-time, and you can demonstrate things better through a video. But if you are not ready going on live videos, you can still cultivate your page through engaging text and photo posts.
Just make sure that your content hits all the right spots. Make sure it resonates with your prospects – tell or ask them what makes them feel stuck, what type of problems could they be having (and what solution you may have), and what kind of realizations should they know to move forward.
But after all these content, make sure you entice them to actually “do” something. It should not be about buying a product or joining your network, you can simply drop a link that they can follow, an email address they can send inquiries to, or just invite them to send you a direct message if they want to know more. This is the point now of the reverse invite. You try to lead your prospects to go to you out of their own sheer curiosity, and not because you told them to do so in a pushy, in-your-face way.
If you reveal your product, service or business right away on your posts and Facebook Live videos, the element that can inspire curiosity will then be gone. If you show people a product right away, chances are, they won’t even spend any minute listening or reading your posts on Facebook. The prospects are not really interested in the product per se, but they are more interested in the results!
So whatever you do, just show the results of your product – not really the product itself. And remember, you have to keep up their curiosity. They have to remain interested and awed enough to actually reach out to you and ask you personally about what you did to solve a certain problem with the product.
Your prospects have to feel comfortable with you, and they should also be able to learn how to trust you. Now you cannot achieve that if you keep telling little white lies or exaggerate the situation to them. You also have to expose your vulnerabilities. Tell them honestly how the product changed you, and how it can change them too. Tell them about your own problems and your own struggles prior to discovering the products that you are selling.
The most common example of this would be a product that helps in weight loss. If you reveal your own struggles when it comes to weight control and image/body issues, they will be encouraged to share their own struggles too, and then it will be easy for you to position the product as the solution to their woes.
This is actually beneficial to you in the long run. By telling the truth, you get to build a good relationship with your prospects and customers, and this relationship will actually encourage them to patronize your products/business for the long term. Be authentic and stay relevant. People will eventually notice that you can be trusted, and then they will primarily go to you to ask for advice and help with certain issues that can be related to your product or niche.
