5 Secrets to Effortlessly Attract Prospects

In network marketing, being attractive is everything – not the good-looking kind of attractive, but more of the charismatic, leader-type attractive. As a networker, you have to attract people (or prospects) like a magnet, so that they will listen to your every word and follow in your footsteps. Being attractive will make you more effective as a networker, and most importantly, it will make your business more effective and successful.

Being attractive or charismatic should come naturally to you – because people can tell if you are just acting or trying too hard. If it does not come naturally, you will simply come off as annoying and obnoxious. You have to learn how to attract your prospects more smoothly. Below are several tips that you may find helpful:

Listen and be genuinely interested.

Let’s face it, almost every one of us love to talk about ourselves. But as a networker, you should talk less about yourself and let your prospects do more of the talking while you do the listening. You have to show them that you are actually interested and that you’re willing to learn more about their lives and personal beliefs.

Letting your prospects talk while you listen intently is one way to attract more people. Directly talking about yourself and your business is simply a no-no. Many prospects will shut you down right away for being obnoxious and uninteresting. So strike a conversation, build rapport and friendly relationships with your prospects.

Don’t be desperate.

Sure, you have to build a good rapport among your prospects, but there is a thin line between building a good relationship and just being too clingy and desperate about it. You may have encountered these types of people in real life, like those who keep texting/messaging every now and then, and would even get mad if they don’t get a reply back.

It would be doubly annoying if you are a desperate networker. Yes, it is understandable that you need to get a “yes” from a prospect, but avoid bugging them out every minute of the day. Allow your prospects some time to think things through, and even reconsider options.

Lastly, don’t keep insisting on yourself. If the prospect says no, then that’s it. Just thank them for their time and accept the fact that they may not be the best fit for your business for now.

Remove any hidden agenda.

People can actually tell if you have a hidden agenda (no matter how much you tell yourself that you are a master manipulator). Although some people may not see it at first, sooner or later, they can sense it.

Don’t be like some people on Facebook who contact long-forgotten high school friends, ask how they’ve been, and then suddenly present a business deal just a few minutes in the conversation. People are usually turned off by this and are more likely going to say no.

Building relationships just for the sake of growing your network is not a good practice. It will diminish your credibility and people will trust you less (and will even warn other friends about you). Be good friends with your prospects – even after they say “no.”

Face people with confidence.

As some might say, confidence is sexy. The way you talk, walk and carry yourself has a great impact on your overall attractiveness. As a networker, your prospects should perceive you as someone who is knowledgeable and trustworthy in the business – and it will be hard to prove this without an ounce of self-confidence.

Lack of confidence is usually caused by a lack of preparation, lack of knowledge and skills. To boost confidence, you must work on your preparation and gather more knowledge and skills if necessary. Try to come up with a script and familiarize it (but don’t read it in front of your prospects), since you need to deliver your pitch as natural as possible.

Develop more skills.

This is part of boosting your confidence. It is easy to attract people if you have mastered a certain skill – but this skill should be at least related to your business. For example, if you have mastered email marketing, you can easily tell prospects that your business proposal will work because you know how to reach leads and customers via email blasts and the like. Such a skill will give you more authority and credibility among customers and prospects.

It’s okay to take some time before you actually start attracting prospects for your network marketing business. If you feel that you still need to read more, practice more and gather wider experiences, then take your time! Find more time to refine your people skills, and if necessary, try attending coaching seminars that can help boost your confidence.
