4 Ways to Establish Your Authority in the Online Network Marketing Industry

Let’s face it, it is doubly hard to do business if no one knows who you are. Whether you are in the health/wellness niche, affiliate marketing, and network marketing niche, no prospect will trust you just because you are offering a product/service to them – they are most likely going to ask about your background first.

This includes any work experience, skills, expertise and mastery in your business. If you are in the health niche, for example, prospects are more likely going to trust you if you are a nutritionist or dietitian. Your profession, in that case, will boost confidence among potential customers, because they trust that you have sufficient academic knowledge in the field.

Internet marketers, on the other hand, would have enough credibility in the affiliate marketing and network marketing niches. This is because you are already perceived to have the experience and know-how when it comes to doing online business and marketing. Yet, even so, expertise alone is not enough.

Remember, you have to compete with other digital marketers out there – some with even more experience and credentials than you. But this is not a reason to lose heart. If you are still starting out in the network marketing industry and you want to make a name for yourself, here are four ways to do so:

Create content

Digital marketing experts say it over and over again – content is king. Not just in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), but also in marketing yourself. Content is not just in the form of blog posts, but it can also be in the form of Social Media posts (including Facebook Live posts, Instagram stories, and photo posts), YouTube videos, podcasts, webinars, and infographics.

Through content, you are already sharing your thoughts, opinions, and ideas related to the subject. And this is how people can gauge your experience and expertise in the niche – especially if the content was very helpful to them. Once they see that you have enough knowledge on the subject, they can count on you whenever they have questions to ask (which then helps you come up with more).

Come up with your own branding

Many people give themselves personal branding online. You may have heard others calling themselves as “mompreneurs,” “freedompreneurs” or simply vloggers and influencers. However, these have been overdone and are very generic. If you will call yourself a mompreneur, there are already thousands of moms online who are using the name too.

You have to come up with a unique name – your name or nickname will do. Branding, however, should be seen in your appearance. There should be clarity, consistency, and constancy when it comes to this.

If you’re targeting professionals for example, and you see it best to wear something formal in your webinars – you have to do that each time (even when you have to go outside and attend seminars personally).

And don’t just wear the usual suit and tie, give it a little extra like using a teal-colored tie, for example. That is how you can create a branding – give your audience a unique mark that is easily attributable to you.

Don’t hesitate to share your knowledge

Hesitating to share your knowledge will affect your content base. If you are hesitant because you aren’t confident enough, it will only restrict you from coming up with ideas, giving out helpful tips and the like. You cannot build up your authority and credibility if you hesitate to share what you know.

If you’re not confident enough, you can always ask other networkers and/or look for reliable mentors. Take some time to read and study more about networking, lengthen your experience, and then share what you have learned so far in forums (such as Quora), online boards and threads. If you are invited to talk in a seminar, forum or interview, don’t pass up the chance! This is how you can widen your reach and talk to more like-minded people.

Go deeper

Many blogs and online content just give out tips without going deeper into each of them. Now here lies the difference. If you really want to establish your authority, you have to go deeper into every item and tip that these bloggers can dish out. This is not too hard, especially if you have enough experience to share in network marketing.

For example, don’t just share the 5 ways of prospecting. You have to create more in-depth content for each strategy. For example, if one of the ways is prospecting through Social Media, create different content that details how exactly should this be done. This is how you can establish your authority – through specifics.

So what do you get by boosting your authority and credibility? Trust. Trust from your market. Trust gets you more leads and prospects – and you don’t even have to do a lot of convincing. As long as people know you to be an expert, they will come.
